April Snow Showers Bring May Flowers?

Well, I'm sure they will... but not just yet. We had some blustery-trying-to snow-in-town type weather yesterday (yes, along with those winds!) It looked like the mountains got a little dusting, so I figured I'd head on up this morning to see what I could see.
Here's the road to the ski basin~

It was a chilly 26 degrees on the mountain when I started out on my little walk, but the exquisite beauty of nature always warms my heart.

Most of these photos were taken walking along a small creek that was in various stages of freezing & thawing.
(Click to enlarge for a better view.)

I had to include the one below, because it made me chuckle to see the bbq grill, something associated with summer, surrounded by a fresh dusting of snow.

12 or so miles down the hill from here, our trees are beginning to "green up" for spring, but at higher elevations, it still looks a lot like winter.

An appropriate quote for our Spring weather here in Santa Fe~

it's interesting to have a peek into your world. your photos show the contrast between lower and higher elevations, and I'm surprised that it's still so winter-like up on top. is this considered a usual spring for your area? nice photos Becky!

Love those shots, Becky, but wouldn't you have preferred that to happen about 2 months ago ? ;-)

Coincidentally, look what happened here exactly 1 year ago ! That's NOT supposed to happen here this late in the season !

@ Sandy,
Nope, we've still got snow in the mountains! Our fresh dusting came on tuesday, though I'm sure a lot of it melted today- it was a beautiful day in Santa Fe!

The photo just above the grill is really beautiful, in a way, Becky... the scalloped edges remind me of some of your pottery.

I missed the snow, but it is raining here in Portland, what else! Trip is going okay, but can't wait to get home. Talk to you soon.

Gorgeous photos! But I know that it gets a bit tiring to see the snow after 6 months of it!
:0)
Wishing you a beautiful Spring in glorious Santa Fe.

Oh, Becky - I really like your ice crystal shots. Can't quite get rid of old man winter, can you? It's the same (but more so) for me in Breckenridge. I'm in the city until Sunday, then heading home and packing to leave for CA and OR. It will be nice to see the ocean! Hope all is well with you. Have fun when your Family visits!
