"The Mountains Are Calling... and I Must Go."

                      ~John Muir

And go I did! My soul was longing for a little recreation... so I headed off to one of my favorite mountains.

Looks like no shortage of snow!

After a bit of a trek, I arrived at the Sierra Club Hut... it's almost completely buried!

Time for a break~ snowshoe bliss!

A curious bird approaches...

somehow I caught him in mid-hop...

then he just poses for me... what a character!

Climbing higher... an open expanse of whiteness  & solitude... the only sound I hear is the crunching of my snowshoes as they meet the windswept snow.

I sit quietly... and take in the view from above tree line.
I am very happy :)... and remember I need to do this more often.

Stunning photos...I love the bird and the scenery. That must have been a very renewing adventure.

What a lovely assortment of posts on your blog. And of course stunning photography.

I am glad to hear that you plan to continue on with this. We need more blogs that are this interesting on the net.

Mid hop!
That was the cutest thing since... since... well the last time I visited your blog. And being that I am sick in bed a wonderful giggle added to my dreary day! Thanks for that!
I am jealous of your snow! I am an avid snowboarder and the snow has been horrible this year in WA. OR at least at the mountain I go to.
Thanks for sharing your day with us!

What a great capture of the character of that Whiskey Jack! They've got such wonderful personalities; did you share any trail mix? They love trail mix (not so much the chocolate bits, but the nuts & fruit, definitely). Looks like a spectacular day of hiking & photography.

I had to smile at your wintry, outdoor photos, Becky. There's still lots of snow in your mountains. We should have gone out on our snowshoes together, you and I - too bad we don't live closer. That little hopping bird is quite the companion!

I enjoyed your photos today and the prints in earlier posts!

Also, Thank You for the Birthday Wish earlier. We have a nice mutual friend in Barb! I see Bernie is here too! Thanks again.

Loved the curious bird. I suppose he doesn't get that many visitors up there! :)
