Here's the short video of the "Bat Flight" that I had the opportunity to see, & that I had mentioned in my last post. ( I didn't film this... photography & filming are off limits... I think the guy who did the filming had some clout!) Just push play below... you may have to wait a few seconds for it to start. Pretty amazing stuff... I had never seen anything like it.

Wow. I wish we could have seen that when we visited the caverns, but it wasn't the right time of year or something. The bats only do this at certain times of the year?
I bet that was awesome to see in person!
Pat,
It was truly incredible! yes, they're just here for summer, then they migrate south.
I'm wondering if you saw the bats hanging in the cave when you were inside? I'm thinking not. I've never actually seen the swarm, but I've read of it - it is very spectacular. It made me think that you probably didn't need bug repellant! Those bats were having a bug banquet.
The Cavern photos were excellent Becky. Boy, I thought 5 or 6 bats in our barn were bad!
Apparently, the possibility of camera flashes, which throw off bat navigation, is why they don't allow filming.
This is so fascinating, I had to look to see how many bats are involved--400,000!
Becky, how long does the flight last?
Thanks for that, I LOVE bats!
xoxo
