Along the Rio Grande

I'm in love with the varied landscape of Northern New Mexico. Mountain ranges, open mesas, river valleys... all of it. I drove from Santa Fe to Taos the other day to visit my friend, and all I kept think was how beautiful it all was! On the way home, the sun was making it's gradual descent to the west, further highlighting the already dramatic landscape.

Photographing facing the sun can be a challenge, so I'll often shoot directly into it, rather than try to avoid it... and it usually makes for an interesting shot anyhow!

Gorgeous. The golden autumn light of northern New Mexico is hard to capture, but you did.

Your photo's want to make me pack up and move...especially since I heard our weather man mention the word snow.

I did this exact drive while I was in NM, Becky. The landscape along the river is breathtaking.

Love the Xmas decorations :-)
You will be careful though, won't you? Not using the viewfinder for those shots I hope. So easily done and so devastating.

Don't scare me will you?
Your eyes of course. Although the camera sensor needs protecting as well.
Tell me you don't do it by looking through the viewfinder.
Having said that, I don't know if an optical VF is the dangerous one in this respect.
When I am sorely tempted to do a sun shot, any sunshot, sunset, sunrise, whatever, I just point the camera, averting my eyes and hope for the best.
(Feel free to zap.)

Becky, you can make a heart by using the < symbol and the 3 on your regular key board. It works well on face book but I have had trouble getting it to show up on my blog...just play around with it. I don't know how to do the music note other than on the numeric key pad. <3

Great shots, as always. I love how the river winds around, don't you? Did you get a chance to see that bridge just outside of Taos over Snake Canyon?

Stunning photos! I love the way you shoot right into the sun. These photos bring back such fond memories of my visit to New Mexico several years ago. I've only been there once, but the landscape, and the people, and the soul of the place made a huge impression on me. It will always be one of my absolute favorite places on earth, and I hope to be able to visit again one day.

I'm so glad you and Annie get to see each other sometimes!
:0)
I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Love and hugs,
xoxoxo
