Rivers and Tides

I've always loved this clip from Artist Andy Goldworthy's Rivers & Tides. Watch it & maybe you'll understand why. I can relate to so many things he speaks of. If you get the chance~ watch the film in it's entirety... it's such a wonderful blend of man, nature, beauty & art. I believe his art (which is intricately tied to nature) is his passion... his souls desire. We all have those things that we love to do~ our passions~ things that on a deeper level feed our souls if you will... things that that we must do in order to feel fulfilled on a deeper level. For me, it is very simple things that feed my soul. It is time spent out in nature, having the time to create, time to sit quietly and just be. A place where no demands are made, & there is no place that I have to rush off to. How do you feel when you are not pursuing your souls desires? Do you feel rootless, disconnected? I do. I think that's why I've been feeling a little glum the past few days, for seemingly no reason in particular... but perhaps simply due to the fact that lately, I feel as if I have to "squeeze in" these moments that feed my soul.... amidst the clamor & demands of daily life.

Becky, You know I feel exactly the same as you do about this. I have learned something though and it is that what we resist never changes :-). I am making an effort to love my life, no matter what and some days it is easier than others. I am sorry if you are feeling down. Call me if you want to talk. Hugs. xoxo

Hi Becky, What I think we can learn from an artist like Goldworthy is acceptance and flow. I've come to believe that to fret and worry and stew is to keep misery alive. I guess what this clip said to me: you can't stop the inevitable, no matter how much you wish you could. Let your soul be quenched by the small moments until you can find more time.
PS I will only be in Santa Fe one night with my husband and sis-in-law on our way back to CO from Albuquerque and the Balloon Festival. We'll hike another time...

What an interesting man! I like to have alone time. When I have an idea for a blog post to write, hopefully something humorous, sometimes I can't wait to write it, it just flows from my fingertips on to the screen. Or if I'm out taking photos, I get a rush.

Thank you for this, Becky. What a wonderful man. It's reassuring to see that there are others out in the world who feel as I do. We tend to get lost in all the noise and busy-ness of modern life. You and Annie and I are very alike, I think.

Glad to know there are others 'out there' who think that way. I too can get 'lost' especially in time when I'm out with my camera, and I hate it when I feel rushed. I also don't mind my own company, and quiet time out in nature is one of the best gifts we can have.
