"Autumn is a Second Spring, When Every Leaf is a Flower..."

 ~ Albert Camus

Where I went hiking last week, the colors continue to change and huge swaths of the mountain have turned brilliant yellow & fiery red. Along with the color also come large crowds of people, because who wouldn't want to see & experience such natural beauty!? But, being that I'm around people constantly at work... I was craving a little solitude. So, just a bit farther up the mountain I went, to a favorite trail that meanders through stands of Aspen. Many of the leaves have already fallen, and the forest took on the most beautiful yellow glow! To lay upon a blanket of freshly fallen leaves, look up at the blue sky, and breathe in the smell of the sweet earth... makes my soul just a little bit happier.

Hi Becky, So - the leaves are dropping - I wanted them to wait for me! That last photo is a stunner. You captured the soul of the forest. Happy potting day tomorrow, and Good Luck on firing the clay.

I don't know which photo I like best! Each one is stunning! I can imagine lying on a bed full of leaves and gazing into that blue, blue sky filled with those tall trees!

Becky, I can understand your wanting to stand amid all the gorgeousness by yourself.....when one spends a lot of time with people, sometimes, one just needs to be alone with Nature. Gorgeous shots....there is something very Cathedral-like about standing in an Aspen Grove and looking up to the tops of the tall tree trunks....

Sigh....thank you...I really needed to see and feel all of these beautiful shots!

Robin, I was actually thinking that when I was out there... Alfred Bryan (circa 1921) coined this phrase:
"I am Ten Thousand Cathedrals rolled into One." He was speaking of the Grand Canyon... but I often think of it when I'm out anywhere experiencing the beauty of nature .

I agree, Becky! That is what soothes my soul as well...being one with nature and saviour its sweet smell. Lovely photos. I hope you don't mind I "stole" one as my desk top - my favorite is the one looking up into the tree tops. I have always enjoyed that particular view the BEST!

You take the best photos of anyone I know!

Love,
Doris and Gizzy!
